The Epiphany Lutheran Preschool Three-Year-Old Program is thoughtfully designed to guide children through the next stage of their social, emotional, and academic development. At this age, curiosity, independence, and imagination flourish — and our program channels that natural enthusiasm into meaningful learning experiences. Each day offers a variety of hands-on, play-based activities that encourage exploration, creativity, and social connection while building important foundational skills.

Children in the three-year-old classroom engage in daily small-group learning, scientific investigations, creative expression, and early mathematical reasoning. Through these activities, they begin to understand how the world works, experiment with new ideas, and develop confidence in their ability to learn. Teachers use each child’s unique interests and developmental level to tailor lessons that challenge and inspire growth in a nurturing and structured environment.

Social and emotional development are central to our program. Children are encouraged to express their feelings, share with others, and work cooperatively in group settings. Through guided play and interactive discussions, they learn empathy, patience, and how to manage emotions effectively. These early lessons help build positive relationships and a strong sense of community within the classroom.

Language and literacy development are integrated throughout the day. Students are introduced to early writing and phonemic awareness as they practice identifying letters, sounds, numbers, shapes, and colors. They begin learning to write their names and follow multi-step directions, building focus and independence. Teachers also encourage self-help skills such as handwashing, tidying up, and putting on jackets — important steps toward greater independence and confidence.
